New Mobile Web Site

Greater Columbus Learning Center has launched a new web site specifically for mobile users. If you access the web from you internet enabled phone or PDA, you can now visit mobile.gclc88.org and see up coming GED dates and office closures. We will be adding more content in the future and would love to hear your oppinion about the new site.

How to Enroll

Individuals interested in taking advantage of the services provided by GCLC should come by our Main Office to start the enrollment process. Enrolling at GCLC is an easy four step process.

Step 1 (5 minutes)
Come by the Main Office Monday through Thursday from 9am to 6pm to sign-up for the next scheduled enrollment.

Step 2 (25 minutes)
You will fill out all necessary enrollment paperwork and schedule an evaluation. You will need to bring a picture ID and proof of SSN.

Step 3 (1 to 4.5 hours, depending on evaluation needed)
We will evaluate your current educational skills so that we can create an educational plan that meets your educational goals.

Step 4
Once you have completed the entrance evaluation, a teacher will contact you with your class schedule and you will begin classes based on your evaluation. You can choose to attend class during one of following class times.

  • Mon - Thurs. 9am - 12pm
  • Mon - Thurs 1pm - 4pm
  • Mon - Thurs 3pm - 6pm
  • Mon & Thurs 5pm - 8pm
  • Special Schedules are designed for those with conflicts with current class times. Please notify the Enrollment Counselor if you have any situation that prevents you from attending during the posted class times.

From GED to College Degree

Dianna SandersAs an adult, finding time to handle daily responsibilities is difficult enough without having to also find time to pursue educational goals. I was recently encouraged to continue my education because of one of our students who had shown great courage and determination to pursue her education.

Dianna Sanders has faced quite a few challenges and remains focused on her and her children’s education. Dianna was forced to leave high school at age seventeen to give birth to her first child. Even though parenthood raised its on set of challenges, it would pale in comparison to what was coming. At eighteen, Dianna was involved in an auto accident that left her hospitalized for 8 months. Doctors had told her she would never be able to walk again. Dianna wouldn’t let that stop her, so she began classes at Greater Columbus Learning Center in order to achieve her GED. Over the next few months, not only did she receive her GED, she also began walking.

Greater Columbus Learning Center is a community based Adult Basic Education Center. We have multimedia instruction for adults including non-readers through college prep levels. Learners may choose from a variety of instruction to compliment their preferred learning style.

Through our multi-generational approach, GCLC insures that persons from all sectors of the community have an opportunity for continuing education. All programs are offered on an “open-entry-open-exit” basis, at no cost to the client. The average annual enrollment is 1,000 individuals.
